Who this list is for

Topics about cities, travel and places: where you’d like to live, your best trip, what you’d change in your city. Easy topics for warm-ups, small talk and language practice.

A common mistake

Describing the itinerary instead of the experience. “First we went here, then there” is a report. Talk about one moment you remember and explain why.

Sample answer

The best trip of my life

My best trip was to Georgia, even though we went almost by accident. What I remember isn’t the sights but an evening in a small village, where our host fed us for two hours and told us his family’s story. We didn’t speak Georgian and he barely spoke our language, yet we understood each other perfectly. Since then, on every trip I look for people like him, not just beautiful places.
